These are one time, not to be re-used bolts according to BMW for the following reasons:
Self-Locking Design: These bolts feature a "self-locking" mechanism—often a specialized coating or deformed thread—that is compromised once the bolt is backed out.
Torque-to-Yield (TTY): Many BMW engine and suspension bolts are designed to stretch during installation to provide optimal clamping force. Once stretched, they permanently deform and cannot provide the correct tension if used again.
These bolts are used on the lower oil pan, battery tray, inter-cooler and hose and other misc. uses.
